The New Year is upon us and several friends of mine have made resolutions ranging from diets to giving the house a coat of paint. However out of all the resolutions that I have been hearing about, getting finances in order seems to top the list. This has been brought about for several reasons but predominantly lack of cash as the recession starts to bite deeper. Everyone apart from premiership footballers and bankers are now starting to feel the squeeze and everyone s coming up with money saving ideas and also ways in which to generate extra income. A resurgence in pawn shops and cash for gold outlets seem to be springing up everywhere as people try to raise funds as the credit facilities for loans have dried up. Perhaps in a way this is just as well as the loan and remortgage market got us all in this situation in the first place. One of the hangovers left behind in the borrowing frenzy of the noughties is missold ppi. This overpriced and in many instances useless insurance seems to have been bolted on to every loan and credit card that people took out. This insurance added thousands of pounds on to the initial loan and even though the insurance run out after 5 years people were saddled with extra debt for many years after that. However the good news is that borrowers who were missold ppi can now get t all back plus interest. There are several reasons why a policy may have been missold and there are estimated to be 2 million missold ppi polices in circulation. To this extent f you genuinely feel that you were missold the chances are you probably were. For those people, if you make one resolution this year make sure you reclaim all your money attached to a missold ppi policy that was sold to you. Here’s wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2010. Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »
